As the oral test of NCEE is drawing near, I would like to speak my mind.

    To begin with, I confess that the oral test is of great importance. Language is a tool used for communication, so the ability to speak English fluently with pure pronunciation is required.

    Moreover, there’s no denying that the oral test offers a precious opportunity for us to challenge ourselves. We can learn to surmount the difficulty of being timid. Confidence is a must in the competitive society.

    In addition, the oral test is an effective way of testing a student’s response when confronted with a tough question. If we are quick-minded, the question will be answered without any hesitation. However, we may be tense, but we have to hold a belief that we can pass the test successfully.

People may have been arguing whether it is necessary for students to take oral test in NCEE. As far as I am concerned, the oral test can never be cancelled.

To begin with, we learn English in order to survive in foreign countries, to communicate with each other, to improve abilities, not just to take exams. So it is much more important to speak fluent and beautiful English than just be good at grammar. However, nowadays, students pay no attention to oral English. To avoid such condition keeping going, oral test seems to be an effective way.

Moreover, judging by the performance in oral test, professors in universities can know about other aspects of a student: whether he’s afraid of expressing himself or whether he can organize the words in a short period of time, which will affect their decision.

What’s more, oral test urges the students to pursue great spoken English, which is an advantage over others in job-hunting.

After the authorities added it to the National College Entrance Examination, there is an increasing concern on the English oral test. People are divided over what they think about the English oral test: some admire it; others just threw eggs at it, for they think it forces the students to take on more burdens, while I am definitely in favour of it.

With the development of globalization, the society requires us to have a good grasp of a foreign language, which is really vital to our bright future. Not only should we learn the writing and reading skills, we should also obtain the speaking and listening skills which are more useful in our daily life. As Chinese students are always devoted to the examination, the oral test will naturally lead them to practice their spoken English more often, thus making them really have a good command of English. The oral test will also encourage teachers to lay emphasis on spoken English, while there is no denying that teachers play an important role in our English.

Taking all these factors into consideration, we can reasonably draw a conclusion that the oral test is good indeed.   (192 words)
